MY INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE - NANA KWESI ESHUN WRITES



We will always remember the road to Ghana's Independence as a journey of many obstacles driven by purpose and determination from patriotic citizens like you and me who fought for the one thing they believed in - Freedom. 

Today, we celebrate Independence. Today, we remember the toils of our founding fathers whom we guiltily forget sometimes. Today, we celebrate the glory of freedom and we rejoice in the fact that freedom is for everyone. 

Today, as we raise high the national flag and see the black star,  we hope for a better Ghana. 
Today, as we clad ourselves in national colors and sing aloud patriotic songs, let us take moments to reflect on them and not forget that we have long pledged to be loyal, hold the country in high esteem, and above all, we pray for blessings for our homeland.

We cannot say it seems just like yesterday when Ghana gained Independence. Everyone seems to be echoing the fact that if Ghana had been a person, would have been on retirement by now,  I believe Ghana is, and will never retire. A mother does not retire. 

Today, I charge you with this, "May we think of freedom not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right."- Peter Marshall. 
 
Happy 65th Birthday to Ghana. Let us continue to cheer mother Ghana on.

As student, we need not to be unconcern about the campus system that is unfavorable to the masses. We have the responsibility on our part to play which is "to be active in respectfully voicing opinions and ideas appropriately" - KNUST Student Guide. Our muteness is granting them the chance to act the way they are acting. Management are mostly aware of certain happenings that affect the livelihood of the students on campus and off campus yet they look unconcern because the students are unconcern. #FixHostelPrices: NANA KWESI ESHUN HONORED AN INVITATION FROM THE COMMITTE FOR REVIEWING THE PRICING MECHANISM OF HOSTELS, KNUST

Nana Kwesi Eshun, the petitioner in the #FixHostelPrices campaign honored an invitation from the committee for reviewing the pricing mechanism of KNUST hostels. The KNUST Dean of Students who is the Chairman of this committee and his members asked of ways that can help leverage the pricing of hostels. The meeting was an enlightening interaction with dignitaries on the committee brainstorming on the subject matter; "REVIEWING MECHANISM OF KNUST HOSTELS" to find a lasting solution to the outrageous increase in hostel prices yearly. Nana Kwesi Eshun shared some thoughts with the committee, emphasizing that campus hostels are most at times expensive than off-campus hostels. Citing Chancellors hall (Hall 7), Brunei, and SRC hostels which benefit from the school resources increase their prices every year.
